Jennifer?s practice at Shaw Valenza LLP includes providing regular advice and counsel on workplace issues to numerous private and public sector employers. She also develops and presents seminars for management and non-supervisory employees on subjects such as respect and professionalism in the workplace, AB 1825 compliance, diversity, managing protected leaves of absence, and workplace violence prevention. In addition, Jennifer regularly conducts independent internal investigations for employers.
Jennifer is an active member of the California State and Sacramento County Bar Associations, and the Society for Human Resource Management (?SHRM?). She is a member of the Legal and Legislative Group of the Sacramento Area Human Resources Association, and co-authors a regular column on workplace law issues for The Daily Recorder, a legal newspaper.
Jennifer is a frequent speaker on employment law topics, and she has been a guest on CNN and local television and radio programs.
Jennifer graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1988, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors. She received her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1994, where she graduated magna cum laude and was the editor-in-chief of the law review.
Prior to founding Shaw Valenza LLP, Jennifer was a partner at Jackson Lewis LLP. Previously, she practiced employment law as an associate at Schacter, Kristoff, Orenstein & Berkowitz (1997-2000) and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe (1994-1997).
