David Copus is one of the nation’s leading employment discrimination lawyers. He is listed in the Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals, International Who’s Who of Management Labor and Employment Lawyers, Guide to the World’s Leading Labour and Employment Lawyers, and the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. The National Law Journal has named him as ?among nation’s best litigators in employment law and a leading expert on the ADA.? He is a member of the Advisory Board of the National Employment Law Institute and a member of the American Bar Association’s Sections on Litigation and Labor and Employment Law. He is on the editorial board of Corporate Counsel’s Guide to the Americans with Disabilities Act. He has written numerous books and articles on litigation strategy, expert witnesses, employment law, and affirmative action and frequently speaks on those topics. He began his legal career in 1969 at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), where for many years he headed the National Programs Division. In that capacity, he directed some of the largest class action investigations against employers and labor unions. Since 1977 he has been in private practice representing employers. He spent 17 years in the Washington, DC office of Jones Day before joining the Morristown, NJ office of Ogletree Deakins. Mr. Copus has extensive experience litigating both individual and class action discrimination lawsuits. His litigation has been the subject of four scholarly books published by university presses. He is also a specialist in the use of expert witnesses, including labor economists, statisticians, industrial and organizational psychologists, and social psychologists. He has defended employers in more than 30 different U.S. District Courts and has argued cases in seven U.S. Courts of Appeal. In addition, he has assisted companies in preparing and implementing affirmative action plans which, in the aggregate, cover more than 2,000,000 employees.
