Trump Education Agency’s Sex Harassment Rule Cleared for Now

A new Education Department rule setting out schools’ Title IX obligations regarding complaints of sex discrimination, including sexual assault and harassment, will go into effect as planned on Aug. 14, a federal court in Washington said Wednesday.

Seventeen states and the District of Columbia weren’t likely to win on their claim that the agency exceeded its authority and acted arbitrarily and capriciously by changing the rule in a way that allegedly makes it harder for sexual harassment victims to hold perpetrators responsible, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said.
