Jackson Lewis Strengthens Orange County Presence, Adds Peter J. Woo and Sean Paisan

IRVINE, CA (May 6, 2021) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Principal Peter J. Woo and Of Counsel Sean Paisan have joined the firm’s Orange County office.

“We are thrilled to announce Peter and Sean as the newest members of the Orange County team,” said Office Managing Principal Alison L. Lynch. “Both share a passion for providing outstanding client service and are well known in the region for successfully managing high-profile litigation and Cal/OSHA matters. Their knowledge and experience in their respective practice areas will continue to enhance our Orange County team and the legal services we offer employers throughout the state.”

Peter J. Woo joins the firm from Goldberg Segalla, where he was a partner, national vice-chair of the firm’s Employment and Labor practice, a leadership committee member of the firm’s Management & Professional Liability practice group and a member of the firm’s Diversity Task Force. He focuses his practice on defending clients in employment and labor litigation. Peter represents high-level executives and employers against claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour matters (individual, class action and representative issues) in state, federal, arbitration and administrative venues. He also routinely provides outside employment counseling services on day-to-day employment and other legal issues, including preventive and risk management strategies.

Peter worked as a claims analyst for a number of carriers before becoming a litigator. He has a true understanding of the relationship between carriers and their clients which makes him a trusted advisor to both. Peter earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School and his B.A. from the University of Washington.

“We’re excited to have an attorney of Peter’s caliber join the firm,” said General Employment Litigation group Co-Leaders Nadine C. Abrahams and Stephanie L. Adler-Paindiris. “He brings knowledge of the EPLI industry and has successfully represented companies in complex employment and professional liability cases. Peter is an exceptional litigator and a great asset to our team and the many industries we serve in California.”

Sean Paisan joins the firm from Ogletree Deakins, where he focused his practice on OSHA, data privacy, and trade secret matters. Although he dedicates a significant portion of his practice to Cal/OSHA appeals, he has successfully handled OSHA appeals in Arizona, Washington and Hawaii. In addition to his OSHA experience, Sean is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and assists employers with data privacy issues involving the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other privacy laws. Sean has served as first chair in numerous trials in federal and state courts, administrative law trials, and binding arbitrations. His litigation experience includes tenures at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean has tried cases involving general employment, unfair competition, false advertising, trade secrets, whistleblower, Lanham Act, Defend Trade Secret Act, and AIR21.

Sean earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School and his B.S. from the University of Southern California.

“Sean has an excellent reputation and is a trusted adviser in the workplace safety space,” said Courtney M. Malveaux and Melanie L. Paul, co-leaders of the firm’s Workplace Safety and Health group, in a joint statement. “His knowledge and experience in safety and health compliance is a natural fit to augment the firm’s CAL/OSHA practice. We are excited to welcome Sean to the firm and see how he will help take the Workplace Safety and Health group to the next level.”
