Jackson Lewis Names Ana C. Shields Long Island Office Managing Principal

MELVILLE, NY (January 6, 2023) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Ana C. Shields  has been elevated to Long Island office managing principal (OMP), effective January 1, 2023. Ana succeeds Christopher M. Valentino, who is stepping down to focus on his clients and his additional leadership roles in the firm, where he serves as a member of the Board of Directors and as a regional coordinator. Jeffrey W. Brecher will assume the role of office litigation manager (OLM).

Prior to her role as OMP, Ana served as OLM since 2021 and is also leader of the Financial Services group. As a management side defense litigator, Ana represents employers and management with respect to claims of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation and other alleged violations of labor and employment laws before federal and state courts and in Arbitration before the AAA, JAMS and other forums.

Ana also works proactively with clients to strategically implement policies, agreements and effective solutions to mitigate risks associated with litigation and to ensure compliance with various federal, state and local laws impacting the workplace. These include preparation of release agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, arbitration agreements with class action waivers, jury waivers, anti-harassment and whistleblower policies as well as advice and counsel with respect to FLSA and NY Labor Law compliance, FMLA and NY PFL compliance and NY’s mandatory training requirements to prevent sex harassment in the workplace.

Ana earned her J.D. from the St. John’s University School of Law and her A.B. from Harvard University.
