EEOC Studying Race, Gender Pay Data Collected From Employers

A federal civil rights agency is commissioning the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to study race and gender pay data the agency collected last year as a result of a court order, as well as how to best collect that workforce data in the future.

The independent study will assess “the quality and utility” of the fiscal 2017 and 2018 data collected by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission pursuant to a 2019 court order, the agency announced Thursday. It will also “inform the EEOC’s approach to future data collections.”
