EEOC Charges Continue Downward Trend in 2021, Recoveries Dip (1)

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission processed a record-low number of discrimination charges and collected $50 million less for victims of workplace discrimination in fiscal year 2021 than in the year prior, according to information released by the agency Monday.

The fiscal year 2021 Annual Performance Report, which measures the agency’s strategic planning performance, shows that the EEOC collected more than $485 million: $350.7 million from private-sector and state and local governments through administrative settlements; $34 million from court settlements and litigation; and $100 million from federal employees’ complaints.
