CHILD CARE LEAVE

Full-time employees and part-time employees with benefits who have worked for one continuous year are eligible for up to three (3) months unpaid child care leave of absence following the birth or adoption of a child. Requests for unpaid child care leave must be made in writing no less than one (1) month prior to the date the leave is to begin and must specify the period for which the leave is requested.

Child care leave will be granted only if such leave will not interfere with the operation of [COMPANY]. During the period of leave, the employee will retain his/her previously earned seniority, vacation and sick time, but no additional benefits shall accrue.

Employees shall be informed in writing of the date the employee is expected to return to work. An employee who fails to return to work when scheduled shall be considered to have resigned his/her employment with [COMPANY]. An employee who takes child care leave and who returns as scheduled will be returned to his/her former position, if such position exists. If the employees position no longer exists, [COMPANY] will make every effort to return the employee to an available, suitable alternative position.
