Firm Profile
Our Firm

Global Reach. Industry Depth. Client Service. Caring People.

With more than 1,000 lawyers practicing in 22 offices worldwide, we work seamlessly across multiple practices and offices to provide our clients with exceptional service and creative advice. Working at the intersection of business and government, both domestically and internationally, we help our clients structure and complete their projects and transactions; vigorously represent their interests in all kinds of complex litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution; guide them and their businesses through the maze of government regulation; and secure, protect, and defend their intellectual property. Because our clients’ success and satisfaction are paramount goals for all Hogan & Hartson lawyers, our teams create a working experience that evolves into enduring relationships.

From our beginnings in 1904 as a single lawyer operation to our status as one of the top international law firms, Hogan & Hartson carries on a tradition of excellence established by our founder, Frank J. Hogan. As the economy and our clients’ businesses have globalized, so, too, has Hogan & Hartson. What remains constant, however, are the transcending professional and cultural values that distinguish us from other major law firms: our unwavering commitment to client service, excellence, integrity, community service, and diversity, and our recognized industry focus and team-oriented approach.

Through first-hand experience, our clients know that Hogan & Hartson lawyers share a genuine respect and affection for one another as well as a commitment to help others and give back to the communities in which we live and work. Over 35 years ago, Hogan & Hartson became the first major law firm in the world to establish a separate practice devoted exclusively to providing pro bono legal services. Today, the firm has one of the leading and most active pro bono programs in the nation for which we have received widespread recognition and acclaim.

Whether you seek to retain a market-leading law firm or to join one, you will see why our extraordinary commitment to our clients and to one another, our depth of experience, global reach, and unparalleled industry focus distinguish us from other law firms and inspire our clients’ and colleagues’ loyalty and satisfaction.

Our Practice

Hogan and Hartson’s labor and employment lawyers assist employers throughout the world in meeting the challenges of an increasingly regulated global workplace. Our clients benefit from the counsel of employment lawyers working in eleven offices in the United States and Europe. From representing clients in Americans with Disabilities Act litigation in the U.S. Supreme Court, to instituting trade secret injunction actions, to training client managers on sexual harassment and diversity issues, to negotiating employment agreements covering the CEOs of major corporations, we act as litigators, advisors, and negotiators.

Most of all, we work with clients to ensure that they have the most effective workplace policies and to solve their employment problems quickly and cost-effectively. By leveraging our experience in top government positions and private practice, our lawyers keep a wide-range of companies up-to-speed in a legal environment that is increasingly complex and litigious.
