Profile

Todd Butler practices in the area of labor and employment, with a focus primarily on constitutional and labor and employment litigation, including Section 1983 civil rights actions, Title VII and Section 1981 discrimination suits, single plaintiff and collective action wage-and-hour matters under the FLSA, and appeals in all of the aforementioned areas.  A portion of his practice is dedicated to traditional labor matters, including defending unfair-labor-practice complaints before the NLRB and arbitrating cases with respect to the interpretation of collective-bargaining agreements. He also has significant experience defending employers’ rights before the EEOC and state-unemployment agencies.

Prior to joining Phelps Dunbar, Mr. Butler served as a law clerk to the Honorable Leslie H. Southwick of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and as a judicial extern to the Honorable Daniel P. Jordan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.
