Andrea represents clients in a variety of employment law matters including discrimination, harassment and retaliation, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, defamation, restrictive covenant violations, and trade secret violations. She has advised clients on drafting restrictive covenants throughout the country, and has drafted contracts for clients in the areas of indemnification and liability waivers.
Andrea also has extensive experience in commercial litigation, and has defended local and national companies in matters involving product liability, contract disputes, consumer protection violations, construction, complex insurance coverage matters, and premises liability. Andrea’s products liability defense practice includes representing consumer appliance and industrial equipment manufacturers in lawsuits alleging personal injury and property damage. Andrea’s significant experience in premises liability includes defending claims for a municipal entity and training employees on how to minimize risk and prepare for litigation in the event an accident is not avoided.
Andrea has tried many cases to verdict, including employment-related cases, business disputes, and product liability matters. She has argued numerous motions before state and federal courts across the country, and has defended clients before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Andrea is a creator of and presenter at “Millennials in the Workforce: Making the ‘In it For Me’ Employee In it For You.” The seminar focuses on issues surrounding the potential values and risks to employers of social networking; how texting, company blogs and emails impact discovery; and how employers can protect proprietary information and goodwill given the transitory nature of the Millennial generation. She is also a repeat presenter at the University of Wisconsin’s Annual Products Liability Seminar.
Andrea graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where she served as a director of the Civil Rights Moot Court and earned a Minnesota Justice Foundation clerkship and a Human Rights Center grant to work at the Florida Immigrant and Advocacy Center to help establish citizenship for immigrant women. She graduated summa cum laude from St. Cloud State University, where she was awarded the St. Cloud State University Excellence in Leadership Award and the Women Studies’ Outstanding Leadership Award.
Andrea has been named a “Rising Star” by Minnesota Law & Politics each year since 2005. She is the President of the Board of Directors of the Sexual Violence Center, a non-profit organization in Minneapolis.
