Mr. Gerak is a shareholder at Ogletree Deakins? Cleveland office. He has represented employers nationally in a broad range of labor and employment issues. He has litigated single-plaintiff employment cases, as well as class action discrimination and wage and hour cases.
Mr. Gerak has extensive experience presenting seminars and highly focused custom training in all major areas of labor and employment law, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, harassment and discrimination law, as well as drafting employee handbooks for non-union and mixed union environments.
Mr. Gerak has assisted many national clients in assessing and managing risks that arise in the workplace. He has created and reviewed employment policies and handbooks, alternative dispute resolution systems, and peer review policies. In addition to his employment practice, Mr. Gerak has represented clients in commercial litigation. He has significant knowledge and experience in seeking and defending petitions for temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions.
He has represented clients in a variety of industries, including financial institutions, healthcare services, restaurants, food and beverage, retail, and transportation and logistics. Mr. Gerak spent more than one year on loan as in-house counsel for a national transportation and logistics company. Mr. Gerak is a member of the Cleveland Employment Law Inn of Court and the Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Bar Association, Northern District of Ohio Chapter. Prior to attending law school, he played five years in the National Football League.
