Mr. Bright began practicing law in Greenville, South Carolina in 1981 with the management labor and employment law firm of Haynsworth, Baldwin, Johnson & Greaves, and he has practiced in the field of management labor and employment his entire career. Mr. Bright has represented employers in more than 100 employment-related lawsuits in state and federal courts. He has extensive experience in litigating cases under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He has handled cases that involved allegations of discrimination under state anti-discrimination statutes, breach of express and implied contracts, wrongful discharge, outrage, conspiracy, and defamation. Mr. Bright has also handled a number of wage and hour cases arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), including several collective actions, and he has represented clients in several states in matters involving state law wage payment claims, including several class actions.Mr. Bright frequently assists clients with preventive maintenance helping clients deal with policy development, interpretation and application; disciplinary actions; and terminations. Mr. Bright has assisted clients with developing employment contracts with a specific focus on non-competition and trade secret agreements. He has conducted extensive training for clients in matters involving sexual harassment and effective discipline systems. Mr. Bright is a frequent lecturer on employment-related topics for professional associations and chamber groups.
