Mr. Effland has represented clients in both Indiana and Florida in the areas of employment and commercial litigation, and has provided training and counseling on employment issues to management in both the private and public sector. Mr. Effland has worked extensively in many of the more complex areas of employment law, including FMLA compliance, workplace privacy law, and wage & hour issues, and has represented clients confronted with both these and other litigation claims in areas such as Title VII, the ADA, and the ADEA. Mr. Effland regularly provides training to his clients in all manner of employment-related topics.Mr. Effland has spoken at numerous seminars on a variety of labor, employment, and commercial law topics, including Leave Issues for the Indiana Employer, Harassment in the Workplace, and FMLA in Indiana - Basic and Advanced for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, as well as FMLA in the Real World at the 2006 Society of Human Resource Management’s Annual Convention in Washington, D.C. He has spoken on the hot-button topic of electronic workplace monitoring and employee ?blogging? at the June 2007 SHRM national conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.Mr. Effland has co-authored a chapter in the recently published ABA book ?The Practitioner’s Guide to Defense of EPL Claims? entitled ?Investigating EPLI-Covered Claims,? as well as co-authored the First Edition of The Indiana Employee’s Guide to the FMLA for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. He has also been published in the Indiana Lawyer, Indiana BizVoice, and Florida Bar Journal.
