Rebecca Sigmund advises companies on immigration alternatives for prospective employees as well as matters relating to employment eligibility of workers. Her practice largely involves securing appropriate temporary working visas and permanent residency for executives, managers, investors, technical personnel and other professionals to authorize their employment in the United States.
Ms. Sigmund?s clients include public and private domestic corporations and foreign companies doing business in the United States, as well as individual foreign businessmen and investors. Another area of Ms. Sigmund?s immigration practice involves advising domestic employers on compliance procedures to verify the work eligibility of all new employees as required under the ?employer sanctions? provisions of federal law. Much of this practice evolves from Department of Labor audits, as well as mergers with and acquisitions of existing companies by clients.
Ms. Sigmund speaks and writes regularly on immigration law topics for a variety of professional, business and civic groups and served as a past president of the Georgia Chapter and on the Board of Governors of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She serves as Vice Chair of the Georgia Bar International Law Section Executive Board.
Ms. Sigmund also has an active pro bono practice representing immigrant survivors of domestic violence, trafficking and other violent crimes. In the community, she has served on various boards of organizations serving children and immigrants.
Ms. Sigmund was the recipient of the 2006 S. Phillip Heiner Award presented by the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation for Community Pro Bono Services. She was ranked as a Georgia Immigration Notable Practitioner in the 2007 Chambers USA rankings (Band 2). She was recently listed as one of Georgia?s Super Lawyers.
