Mr. Steinhaus is the managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins” Atlanta office. His legal practice focuses on management defense in the areas of labor and employment law. Primary defense activities include employment litigation, union avoidance, collective bargaining and defense of management in other matters before the EEOC, U.S. Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board and other federal and state agencies. Mr. Steinhaus is admitted and litigates primarily in the Fourth, Sixth and Eleventh Circuits. In addition, he frequently represents employers in matters related to restrictive covenants and trade secrets including seeking injunctive relief in both state and federal courts.His early career included substantial human resources management experience. He was responsible for corporate compensation and policy at Federated Department Stores and later joined Lockheed-Georgia in labor relations dealing with the International Association of Machinists. Mr. Steinhaus has developed sophisticated management education programs in the area of litigation avoidance and a programmed approach to evaluating and fine-tuning human resources systems. He also provides ongoing counseling for management on a full range of human resources issues as they arise day-to-day.
