Mr. Alexis represents management in a wide range of employment disputes before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, including in the areas of discrimination, harassment and retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour (both individual and representative and class actions) and leave of absence management. Mr. Alexis has both jury trial and appellate experience.
Prior to joining Ogletree, Mr. Alexis served as an in-house attorney for publically-traded corporations, focusing his practice primarily in the management of outside counsel on national and international employment and immigration matters, and the provision of advice to all levels of management on day-to-day employment issues, including wage and hour, recruitment, employee relations, employee training, personnel records management, employment policies and procedures, performance management, employment termination, employee benefits and executive and equity compensation matters. As in-house counsel for a financial institution, Drew managed a Human Resources Legal and Compliance Department and established a Wage and Hour Division within that department to address wage and hour matters for the company.
Mr. Alexis is a Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. After completing his B.A. in Political Science at Colgate, Mr. Alexis obtained his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1994. In 2004, Mr. Alexis obtained his Senior Professional in Human Resources certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute.
Since 2006, Mr. Alexis has served as an Associate Adjunct Professor of Law at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California, teaching courses on Employment Discrimination Law and Sexual Orientation Law. Mr. Alexis is also a frequent speaker at various local, state and national conferences on a number of employment law topics.
