Since 1990, Margaret H. Gillespie has represented management in a wide variety of employment litigation matters, as well as provided employment advice and counseling to employers. She has handled cases in state and federal courts, and before state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as in private arbitrations. She has extensive experience in defending employers in wage and hour class actions, claims brought under California Business and Professions Code Section 17200, and traditional single and multi-plaintiff lawsuits involving claims for discrimination, harassment, unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, and other employment related torts and claims, as well as ERISA claims for benefits.Recent representations include wage and hour class actions for alleged overtime violations, meal and rest period violations, and record-keeping violations; representation of an entertainment company in several high-profile cases; representation of an energy company in a whistleblowing case; representation of a manufacturing company in a high profile sexual harassment case; representation of a retail chain in a case claiming disability discrimination in multiple locations; representation of a national corporation in a national origin discrimination case involving allegations against the company’s president; and representation of a financial services company in a compensation dispute involving multiple loan officers.Margaret received her J.D., from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990, and an A.B., with distinction, from Stanford University in 1987.
