Mr. Thieme’s employment practice emphasizes preventive counseling, litigation and the resolution of disputes through alternative dispute resolution techniques. He is experienced in all areas of employment relations law, including discrimination and harassment, disability accommodation, wrongful discharge, workplace privacy, employment contracts, employee handbooks and leave rights.

Mr. Thieme has particular expertise in the areas of wage and hour law, employee compensation and benefits (including equity incentives), employee intellectual property and noncompetition matters, reductions in force (including WARN Act compliance), and employment issues in the purchase and sale of businesses.

In addition to his management-side practice, Mr. Thieme represents executives in connection with their employment contracts and equity compensation arrangements.

Mr.Thieme is the managing shareholder (partner) of Littler Mendelson’s Seattle office. He is a regular speaker on employment law topics to both lawyers and human resources professionals. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Washington as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Thieme is designated a “Super Lawyer” by Washington Law & Politics magazine. He is the author of the Washington State chapter of the upcoming BNA/ABA treatise on state wage and hour laws. He is a member of the Labor and Employment and Litigation sections of the American Bar Association, the Litigation Section of the Washington Bar Association and the Labor Law Section of the King County Bar Association.
