Andy Satterfield is the Managing Partner in the Greenville office of Jackson Lewis LLP. He practices in the areas of management labor and employment law. He has substantial experience representing employers in manufacturing, service, health care, retail, banking and restaurant industries.
Mr. Satterfield has handled cases involving employment discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, age and disability; sexual harassment; wrongful discharge; retaliatory discharge; breach of contract; covenants not to compete and trade secret violations; wage and hour disputes and child labor violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). He has extensive experience counseling clients on compliance issues and litigation avoidance strategies; assisting employers with responses to EEOC charges and other administrative actions; drafting and implementing substance abuse policies; drafting noncompetition and nondisclosure agreements; drafting employee handbooks; and conducting supervisor training.
A member of the District of Columbia Bar and the South Carolina Bar, Mr. Satterfield served as Chairman of the Employment and Labor Law Section of the South Carolina Bar from 1998-99. He is admitted to practice before the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals; the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina; the U.S. Court of Federal Claims; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia; and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
Mr. Satterfield has represented clients in employment lawsuits in state and federal courts, trial and appellate, in Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Satterfield was affiliated with another leading Southeastern firm. From 1987-88, he served as a law clerk to U.S. Judge John L. Napier of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
Mr. Satterfield is recognized in the Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business publication for his experience in labor and employment law and The Best Lawyers In America.
In 1985, Mr. Satterfield earned a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 1981.
