Tom Smith is a Partner in the Boston and Florida offices of Jackson Lewis LLP. He is a graduate of Boston University School of Law and has practiced Labor and Employment law for over thirty-five years. After serving in the Judge Advocate Generals? Corp, Mr. Smith practiced labor and employment law in Connecticut from 1974 through 1979 and was formerly a partner in a Connecticut firm. Mr. Smith has been a partner in Jackson Lewis from over 20 years and served as Managing Partner of the Boston office of the firm for over seventeen years. He also assisted with the management of the firm?s Hartford and Chicago offices.

Mr. Smith is an active member of the Bars of Connecticut, Florida and Massachusetts, and is admitted to several District Courts and Courts of Appeals including the federal courts in Rhode Island, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts and the First and Second Circuit Courts of Appeal. He is a member of the American Bar Association?s Labor and Employment Law Section where he is active on the Practice and Procedure before the National Labor Relations Board subcommittee. He is also a member of the Litigation Section of the ABA.

Mr. Smith practices in most areas of labor and employment law and has served as outside counsel to some of the nation?s largest employers. He has practiced extensively before the National Labor Relations Board, tried many arbitration cases and has negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements for employers. Mr. Smith also provides training on workplace law topics from many industries.

Mr. Smith?s practice of workplace law has included his representation of management in Sarbanes-Oxley retaliation cases, employment tax cases before the Internal Revenue Service and state revenue agencies, OSHA and wage and hour investigations by the Department of Labor, and various discrimination cases including pattern and practice cases. He has also defended employers in bench and jury trials in state and federal courts.

Mr. Smith serves on the State Board of Advisors for the Massachusetts chapter of the Salvation Army and dedicates his services and time to numerous charitable organizations.

In his spare time, Mr. Smith enjoys swimming, film, writing short stories and competitive Scrabble.
