Lawrence H. Stone is the managing partner of the Los Angeles office of Jackson Lewis LLP. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brandeis University, cum laude, in 1980 and earned a Master?s degree from Brown University in labor history in 1981. He received his Juris Doctor from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in 1985. He is a member of the bars of the states of New York and California. Mr. Stone joined the firm?s New York office in 1988 after practicing on the union side for two years. He relocated to California in 1990 and became the managing partner of the Los Angeles office in 1997.
Mr. Stone frequently speaks and trains on employment law topics including the perils of managing employees in California. These topics include union organizing, managing under a union contract, sexual harassment in the workplace, leaves of absence and workplace accommodations, discipline and termination issues and avoiding workplace litigation.
He regularly practices before the National Labor Relations Board, state and federal agencies and state and federal courts. In addition, he has extensive experience in all facets of union-management relations from organizing to collective bargaining, and has successfully handled numerous arbitrations on subjects ranging from disciplinary issues, just cause for termination and contract interpretation issues. Mr. Stone has also handled matters before other administrative tribunals. He has litigated wrongful termination and discrimination lawsuits before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
Mr. Stone is an avid runner and tennis player.
