John S. Burgin(Shareholder)Raleigh Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Mr. Burgin is the managing shareholder in the firm's Raleigh, North Carolina office and he has over 30 years of legal and professional experience in representing employers in both labor and employment matters. Mr. Burgin was recognized as one of the "Top One Hundred Labor Attorneys in the United States" in 2006 and 2007 from more than 8,500 Labor lawyers evaluated by the Labor Relations Institute, as determined by the number of National Labor Relations Board elections in which each attorney provided representation and the success of those election outcomes for business clients. In addition, Mr. Burgin has been recognized as one of the leading labor and employment lawyers by Chambers USA America's Leading Business Lawyers, as well as North Carolina Super Lawyers. Mr. Burgin has represented corporations in some of the largest union organizing campaigns in the United States (i.e., Eastern Airlines, Kodak, FedEx Ground, USAir) and in smallest units permitted by law (e.g. a two employee unit). He also has experience in all proceedings before the NLRB (representation hearings, unfair labor practices, etc.), strikes, decertifications, injunctions, arbitrations and negotiating union contracts. Mr. Burgin also has extensive experience in handling charges and litigation of employment discrimination claims based on race, sex, religion, age, national origin, harassment and wrongful termination. He is also a frequent lecturer in the area of affirmative action. Mr. Burgin has extensive experience in drafting affirmative action programs, OFCCP audits and OFCCP litigation of race, sex, disability and veteran claims. Mr. Burgin has counseled scores of clients in establishing effective personnel policies, has designed and conducted training programs for management and supervisory officials and has advised numerous clients with respect to OSHA and wage and hour matters.
