Roy J. Barquet(Shareholder)Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC Lawyer Profile Roy J. Barquet focuses his practice on immigration litigation and labor and employment. He has experience with business-related immigration issues, audits of employers' compliance with immigration and labor regulations, employment-based immigrant visa petitions, investment and professional visas, labor certifications and family-based immigrant visa petitions. Before joining Buchanan, Roy was a shareholder in a large international law firm based in Miami. Prior to that, he was an associate at another Miami firm, where he was responsible for aspects of civil litigation in commercial and labor-related matters, including drafting federal and state pleadings memoranda of law, discovery, jury instructions and appellate briefs, as well as arguing discovery motions and conducting and defending depositions. Roy served as an assistant state attorney (prosecutor) for the State Attorney's Office in Miami-Dade County from 1991-1996. There, he was responsible for aspects of litigation in the prosecution of first-degree felonies, including drafting arrest and search warrants, grand jury indictments, discovery, legal motions, jury instructions and appeals. He was named as a Top Up & Comer in the 2006 edition of the South Florida Legal Guide. A 2002 recipient of the key to the town of Medley, Florida, Roy was honored for his creation of the Medley Chamber of Commerce. He was also honored among Florida Trend's Florida Legal Elite in the magazine's 2006 survey.
