H. Mark Adams(Partner)Jones Walker Lawyer Profile Mr. Adams founded Jones Walker's Labor Relations & Employment Practice and served as its chair for more than twenty years. He also served as a member of Jones Walker's Executive Committee from 2001 to 2006. In his practice, Mr. Adams counsels employers on the full range of labor and employment law issues, including dealing with union organizing, collective bargaining, avoiding discrimination claims, the development of employee handbooks and effective personnel policies and procedures, affirmative action compliance, dealing with drug and alcohol abuse and testing, how to conduct effective investigations of sexual harassment complaints and employee misconduct, and coping with wage and hour, ADA and FMLA issues. Mr. Adams serves as the Louisiana representative to the National Employers Counsel Network (NECN), a national coalition of fifty-one leading labor and employment law firms in each of the United States and the District of Columbia. Mr. Adams defends employers against employment claims throughout the United States and has tried and won numerous employment discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuits for employers in both state and federal courts and in private arbitration proceedings. He also represents employers in labor arbitration proceedings under collective bargaining agreements and in administrative proceedings before the NLRB, OFCCP, EEOC and other government agencies. Mr. Adams is a frequent speaker at professional meetings and seminars and has authored numerous articles for publication in professional journals dealing with a broad range of labor and employment law topics. Since 1992, Mr. Adams has been the Editor in Chief of the Louisiana Employment Law Letter, a monthly subscription publication for human resource professionals and other executives and managers responsible for labor and employee relations. Mr. Adams is a native of Mississippi. He graduated with honors from Mississippi State University in 1976 and received his law degree in 1981 from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he was a member of the board of editors of the law journal. He is admitted to practice in both Louisiana and Mississippi and is a member of the Labor & Employment Law and Litigation Sections of the American Bar Association.
