Emily M. Yinger(Partner)Hogan & Hartson L.L.P. Lawyer Profile Emily Yinger is the managing partner for the firm's Northern Virginia office and a director of the firm’s litigation practice. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on business torts, technology, and intellectual property. She also has extensive experience with employment and real estate disputes in the federal courts as well as state courts for Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Since joining the firm in 1987, Emily has represented major firm clients, including healthcare and pharmaceutical companies, technology, software and e-commerce companies, media and broadcast companies, universities and government entities, and venture capital and consulting firms in complex contract disputes and business tort suits, including the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, fraud and conspiracy, tortious interference, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder derivative, securities and corporate control actions, products liability, and defamation. In the area of intellectual property litigation, Emily has handled unfair competition, trade secret theft, noncompete and employee raiding violations, and copyright and trademark infringement claims nationwide. These matters have included software, hardware and Web-based tool development, world-renown works of art, and pharmaceutical development and promotion. In the area of employment litigation, Emily has litigated a broad range of workplace disputes, including enforcement of noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, whistleblowing, Family and Medical Leave Act, and unfair labor practices matters. Emily has also handled sensitive investigations and severance of senior management in public Fortune 500 companies. In the field of real estate litigation, Emily has represented financial institutions, real estate limited partnerships and investment trusts, and developers in breach of contract, lender liability, fraudulent conveyance, construction, and partnership disputes. Working in conjunction with the firm’s real estate group, she has also handled eminent domain and inverse condemnation cases involving more than 900 acres of property for the expansion of Washington Dulles and Reagan National Airports. In addition to trial work, Emily regularly participates in various forms of alternative dispute resolution.
