E. Grantland Burns(Member)Nexsen Pruet, LLC Lawyer Profile Grant Burns is an attorney in the firm’s Greenville, SC office and he practices primarily in the areas of litigation and employment law. Mr. Burns has been certified as a Circuit Court Mediator by the S.C. Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification. Mr. Burns received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University, where he served as Student Body President, and his J.D. from the Washington and Lee University School of Law, where he was Student Bar Association President. Mr. Burns has considerable trial experience defending discrimination, harassment, and retaliation cases brought under state and federal employment statutes, as well as claims of wrongful discharge, contract disputes, and various torts. He has also tried a number of environmental matters related to groundwater contamination, and, in addition, he has handled several jury trials involving general business disputes. Mr. Burns regularly represents clients in employment arbitration matters throughout the United States. In April of 2005 he was elected to serve as a 13th Judicial Circuit Delegate in the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates. He is a member of the Virginia and South Carolina bars and is admitted to practice before numerous appellate courts. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, for whom he formerly chaired the employment law section. He is a Past President of the Greenville County Bar Association and of the Greenville Young Lawyers group.
