    AREAS OF PRACTICE

Ms. Bennett is the Managing Shareholder of the Firm's Fresno office. Ms. Bennett is a litigator. She has represented employers in hundreds of cases in both federal and state courts, in primarily complex wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment lawsuits.

In the course of her practice, Ms. Bennett primarily represents international and national clients, including financial institutions, grocery chains, and trucking companies. She has successfully defended employers in all cases she has taken to a jury, including a race discrimination case in 2001 when she was seven months pregnant. More importantly for her clients, Ms. Bennett is many times able to avoid the time, expense, and emotional strain of trials by obtaining dismissals of cases in their entirety through motions for summary judgment. Following a win on a motion for summary judgment, Ms. Bennett has recovered not only costs but attorneys' fees by overcoming the high standard of establishing that cases brought against her clients were frivolous. Additionally, Ms. Bennett is able to regularly achieve nuisance value settlements by avoiding significant attorneys' fees and costs relatively early in cases she is defending.

As the managing shareholder of a Littler Mendelson office, Ms. Bennett sees her role as having to “practice what I preach.” In running an office, Ms. Bennett must follow the same principles and guidelines for which she advises employers on a daily basis.

Ms. Bennett's practice also includes: arbitrations and mediations; advising employers in all employment-law matters; representing a range of employers from international to small Central Valley employers in proceedings not only in court but before the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Labor Commissioner, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.

Through litigating and advising employers regarding all aspects of employment law, employers become more educated and aware of their obligations and responsibilities to employees in the workforce.
