    AREAS OF PRACTICE

    James M.L. Ferber is the Office Managing Shareholder of the firm's Columbus, Ohio office. He has practiced labor and employment law for over 30 years. Mr. Ferber has represented employers in various industries, and ranging from small businesses to Fortune 100 companies, on cases throughout the United States. He has been involved in over 100 union organizing campaigns, and has defended over 200 employment lawsuits in more than 50 federal and state courts. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Ferber was a trial attorney with the National Labor Relations Board. Before joining Littler, he was chair of the labor and employment department of a multi-practice law firm in Columbus.

    PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

    Mr. Ferber is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Labor/Employment Section, and is a Fellow of the American College of Labor & Employment Lawyers. He has taught labor and employment law in Japan as an adjunct professor of Capital University School of Law. He formerly served as Special Labor Counsel to the Mayor of Columbus.

    Mr. Ferber is the author of "Development of the Alter-ego Doctrine," 1 Midwest Labor and Employment Law Journal 1 (1983), and co-author of "Withdrawal of Recognition: The Impact of Allentown Mack and Lee Lumber," 14 The Labor Law. 339 (1998). He served as Assistant Editor of The Developing Labor Law, Bureau of National Affairs, 1986–1987.

    Mr. Ferber is a member of the Labor & Employment Law Section, the Committee on Development of the Law Under the National Labor Relations Act (and former subcommittee co-chair), and the International Labor Law Committee of the American Bar Association. He is also a Member of the Ohio State and Columbus Bar Associations.

    Mr. Ferber is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of Ohio, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, and 10th Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, Northern District of California, Northern District of New York, and the Eastern District of Michigan. He has been admitted pro hac vice in 27 other federal district courts and in a number of state courts.
