Lawyer Profile
Matthew Raley joined the Houston office of Baker Hostetler as an associate in September of 2005. Mr. Raley represents corporate clients in a variety of areas, including employment, complex commercial litigation, products liability, and oil and gas litigation.

Mr.Raley's experience in employment litigation includes cases involving sexual harassment and discrimination (age, sex, race, disability, and pregnancy). He has also represented corporate clients in cases involving Texas common law wrongful discharge, retaliation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. He recently assisted a small corporation with the implementation of its first Employee Handbook, and advised another corporation regarding the implementation of “afterthought” covenants not to compete for employees in a number of states.

Mr. Raley is a member of the Texas Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, and the Houston Young Lawyers Association (HYLA). He has written legal articles on a number of subjects, including the impact of performance reviews in jury trials involving employment claims; intentional infliction of emotional distress claims and Texas's Chapter 21; and the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Raley wrote an article on the ethical implications of famine relief, which appeared in Stanford University's journal of philosophy, The Dualist.
