Candace S. Walker(Associate)Indianapolis Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Ms. Walker began her career as a lawyer as a law clerk to the Hon. V. Sue Shields, Indiana Court of Appeals. Before joining Ogletree, Deakins, she was a Chief Counsel for the City of Indianapolis from 1995 to 2000. Since then she has advised public and private sector clients on labor and employment matters including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, the WARN Act, USERRA, and state law issues such as unemployment compensation, worker's compensation and state wage and hour compliance. She has extensive experience in collective bargaining in the public sector and in administering public sector collective bargaining agreements, including grievances and arbitration. Ms. Walker has represented clients in employment matters in state and federal court as well as before the EEOC, the NLRB, and in state administrative matters. Ms. Walker also spends substantial time counseling and training clients regarding litigation avoidance as well as working with clients on personnel policies and employee handbooks. She has been a speaker at numerous seminars on a variety of employment matters as well as on municipal law topics. Some of her speaking engagements include: "Human Resource Fundamentals in Indiana", "ADA, FMLA and workers' Compensation in Indiana", "Time Off: State and Federal Laws on Employee Leave, Vacations and Holidays in Indiana", and "Employment Related Records in Indiana." Ms. Walker recently co-authored the Indiana Chamber of Commerce's publication, FMLA Guide: Everything Indiana Employers Need to Know About the FMLA and was a contributor to the Sixth Edition of "How Arbitration Works," Alan Miles Ruben et al eds., BNA Books.
