He regularly counsels employers concerning a broad spectrum of employment issues and represents clients before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and other state and federal agencies. He also assists clients with union avoidance, responding to union campaigns, collective bargaining, and arbitration. Mr. Shivers is an experienced litigator, having successfully litigated numerous cases in federal and state courts, in a variety of venues, involving discrimination claims, retaliation claims, sexual harassment claims, employee benefits claims, employment contract claims, wrongful termination claims, and non-compete claims. Mr. Shivers has served as a member of the national Legislative Affairs Committee for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and was one of the authors of the first edition of Employee Benefits Law, a treatise published by the Bureau of National Affairs and the ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law. He also is one of the authors of the Mississippi Employment Law Practice Handbook, published by the University of Mississippi.
