Sandra B. Reiss(Shareholder)Birmingham Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Following graduation from Emory School of Law, Ms. Reiss served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Judge Robert B. Propst, United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. After completing her clerkship, for the next seven years, Sandra represented both plaintiffs and defendants in all facets of Title VII law including age, race, gender as well as sexual harassment cases. Ms. Reiss also worked to develop the Americans with Disabilities Act section of her prior firm and, was before the United States Supreme Court on a landmark case concerning the constitutionality of the ADA as applied to the states. Sandra has been with Ogletree Deakins since September 2001, and handles all types of discrimination claims as well as claims arising under FMLA and ERISA. She also handles all types of state law claims arising in contract or tort and handles litigation arising under workers' compensation. Sandra has advised employers on reductions-in-force and handles scores of mediations at the EEOC and during litigation. Sandra has trial experience in both federal and state court, and has appeared before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. In addition to her professional responsibilities, Sandra served as President of the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Legal Aid Society for the 2005-2006 term. She is currently serving a 3-year term on the Birmingham Bar Grievance Committee and is a member of the 2007 Class of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum. Sandra is also on the Board of Directors of Laps for CF.
