J. Carin Pendergraft(Associate)Birmingham Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Ms. Pendergraft represents management in employment-related litigation on federal, state, and local levels before courts and administrative agencies concerning claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, worker's compensation, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour violations. Ms. Pendergraft regularly provides individualized and group training on issues such as litigation avoidance, record retention, employee discipline and performance appraisal, harassment prevention and investigation, and workplace policies and procedures. She is also a frequent lecturer to human resources personnel on topics including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Alabama Workmen's Compensation Act, retaliatory discharge claims, and record retention matters. Ms. Pendergraft graduated with a J.D. from the University of Georgia in 2001 where she served as notes editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and was a Student Prosecutor for the Rockdale Judicial Circuit. While in law school, she had the distinction of winning the J. Melvin England Mock Trial Competition and being a National Finalist in the Georgetown National White Collar Crime Invitational. Ms. Pendergraft was a member of the Joseph Henry Lumpkin Inn of Court and was selected to the Order of Barristers. Ms. Pendergraft joined Ogletree Deakins in 2000 while serving as a clerk in the firm's Greenville office. Upon graduation, she moved to Alabama and became associated with the firm's Birmingham office.
