James M. Patterson, Jr.(Shareholder)Nashville Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Since beginning his practice of law in 1992, Mr. Patterson has represented management in the area of labor and employment law with an emphasis on traditional labor issues. Mr. Patterson has negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements on behalf of management. He has counseled management in union elections in various industries. Mr. Patterson's practice includes the counseling and representation of employers in matters before the National Labor Relations Board. He has extensive experience in the area of NLRB representation and decertification elections, unfair labor practice proceedings, labor arbitrations, and collective bargaining. Mr. Patterson has worked exclusively on labor and employment law issues. He has represented companies throughout the United States including CPK Media, Inc., Cresent Manufacturing, Connico, Inc., John W. McDougall Co., Entravision Communications Corp., The Hearst Corporation, Sunrise Outdoor Advertising, Lancaster Properties, Indianapolis Newspapers, Donrey Media Group, Ogden Newspapers, Lee Enterprises, E. W. Scripps Co., and Vista Media Company. Mr. Patterson has also counseled management in discrimination litigation, wage and hour litigation, ADA litigation, FMLA litigation, and has prepared and reviewed employee handbooks. Mr. Patterson is also active in civic and professional activities. He is currently Legislative Board Member for both the Middle Tennessee Society for Human Resources and the Tennessee State Council for the Society for Human Resources. In that capacity, Mr. Patterson serves in a volunteer capacity providing legal advice to both Boards. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Middle Tennessee YMCA. He is a frequent speaker on employment law matters to various industry, professional and civic groups.
