Mr. McDonald is a shareholder in the Greenville office and practices primarily in the area of employment litigation. He represents a variety of employers in employment litigation matters ranging from breach of employment contracts to cases involving discrimination in the areas of race, sex, age, and disability in both individual and class actions. He also counsels employers regarding wage and hour issues such as employee exempt/nonexempt status, compensatory time, overtime compensation, and minimum wage payments. He represents employers in individual and collective actions alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act. He also represents employers in noncompete cases.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. McDonald served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable C. Victor Pyle, Jr., Judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Greenville, South Carolina.

Mr. McDonald handles the following types of matters:

  • Litigates all aspects of employment law cases in state and federal courts.

  • Drafts employment contracts, severance agreements, and noncompete agreements.

  • Prepares and reviews policy and procedure manuals and employee handbooks.

  • Reviews employees' exempt/nonexempt status under the FLSA.

  • Provides legal advice on a variety of federal and state wage and hour issues.


  • Counsels clients on legal obligations resulting from layoffs and plant closings.


  • Provides legal advice on noncompete issues.
