Michael L. Matula(Shareholder)Kansas City Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Mr. Matula is a shareholder in the firm's Kansas City office, and concentrates his practice in the areas of employment litigation and counseling. He has represented employers in a wide variety of employment matters including discrimination, retaliation, harassment and wrongful discharge cases, non-competition litigation, OSHA, EEOC, and STAA administrative proceedings, and labor arbitrations. In addition, Mr. Matula also has significant experience in commercial, tort, and insurance litigation, and continues to handle select matters in those areas. Mr. Matula has tried or co-tried eleven jury trials, and served as co-trial counsel in a case resulting in the fourth most significant defense verdict in Missouri in 2001, as reported by the Missouri Lawyers Weekly list of "Largest Defense Verdicts of 2001." He has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, and is a graduate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy's Trial Skills Program. Mr. Matula has been selected to speak on a variety of topics including preventing retaliation claims, employee documentation and discharge issues, and conducting internal investigations, among others. The Federal Judicial Center selected him to speak on employment law issues at the National U.S. Magistrate Judges? Workshop in July 2004.
