Gloria C. Jan(Of Counsel)Los Angeles Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Gloria C. Jan, of counsel, represents employers in a wide range of labor and employment matters since 1993. She has handled cases throughout the litigation process before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agency proceedings and private arbitrations, in matters involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour issues (including class actions), unfair competition and trade secrets, and entertainment labor disputes. By way of example, Gloria has defended an employer against claims arising out of a workplace altercation (including claims for intentional infliction of emotional distress and battery), resulting in a complete defense verdict at trial; prosecuted trade secret and non-solicitation claims on behalf of an insurance brokerage agency against a former employee; and argued before the California Supreme Court on behalf of amicus curiae in a discrimination case. Gloria provides advice and counseling to employers in all areas of labor and employment law, including employment policies, wage and hour compliance, family and medical leave issues, and litigation avoidance. She also conducts investigations and training on employment issues, including harassment and employee leaves of absence. Gloria graduated magna cum laude from Brown University, with a degree in psychology. Following a research assistantship to Professor Walter Mischel at Columbia University, Gloria attended Yale Law School, where she served as senior editor of Yale Law Journal and was a Coker Fellow. From 1992-1993, Gloria was a law clerk to the Honorable Harold M. Fong, United States District Court for the District of Hawaii.
