Lawyer Profile
John Franco practices in all areas of Labor and Employment Law, representing employers before state and federal courts and agencies in connection with claims involving equal employment opportunity laws, unfair labor practice charges, wrongful discharge, wage and hour issues, unemployment compensation, state law tort and contract claims, OSHA inspections and citations, ERISA litigation, and worker compensation retaliation claims.  He also counsels clients regarding proposed disciplinary and discharge actions, family and medical leave and disability issues, wage and hour law compliance, restrictive employment covenants and proposed personnel policies, procedures and handbooks.  He has vast experience in the trial of labor and employment cases before juries, which serves as a valuable resource in assisting clients to avoid costly litigation and employment disputes. He also serves as a mediator, effectively utilizing his litigation experience.

Mr. Franco is experienced in both private and public sector labor and employment relations and disputes.  As a member of The Air Force Judge Advocate General's Department, he served as the Chief Labor Counsel for the Air Force before entering private practice as a labor attorney in 1981.  In addition to representing private sector employers, he has represented state and local governmental entities, schools and colleges.  Thus, he has a keen insight into the challenges facing employers in a wide range of work environments.

Mr. Franco has been an adjunct professor at several universities across the country, including serving as guest lecturer in Labor Law at The Air Force Judge Advocate General's School from 1978 to 1981.  He is a frequent speaker at employment-related seminars and has authored numerous papers and articles on Labor and Employment Law.  He was on the Editorial Advisory Board for the two-volume work on Texas Employment Law.  Mr. Franco has been selected as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine (2003-current) and has also been chosen as one of San Antonio's Best Attorneys by the Scene in SA Magazine.  He is also listed in the National Register's Who's Who in Executives and Professionals.
