Charles E. Engeman(Shareholder)St. Thomas Employment Lawyer Lawyer Profile Mr. Engeman is the founding shareholder of our St. Thomas office and is the Practice Group Leader for the firm's International Practice Group. He has handled employment and general litigation matters, union campaigns, collective bargaining and related matters for employers in multiple Caribbean jurisdictions, including (but not limited to) Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, the British Virgin Islands, and all three of the United States Virgin Islands. Mr. Engeman has been a delegate to the Caribbean Employers? Confederation, which is an organization consisting of seventeen (17) member countries in and around the Caribbean. Membership in this organization has given Mr. Engeman direct and high level contacts in each of the seventeen member countries. Through relationships with local counsel in other Caribbean islands and with the Employer Organizations in those islands, Mr. Engeman is able to act as a liaison for U.S. and International corporations that are doing business or seeking to do business in the region. Mr. Engeman advises employers on a day-to-day basis with regard to wage and hour issues, employee policies and manuals, and counsels employers in managing crises arising in the employment context in numerous locations in the Caribbean. Mr. Engeman also has significant experience representing clients in union grievance proceedings, collective bargaining and arbitration, as well as advising clients in union avoidance and during organizational drives. Mr. Engeman represents many of the major hotel and resort companies with a presence in the Caribbean, as well as the local operations and subsidiaries of large national and international companies engaged in retail, commercial, light and heavy industrial, transportation, and communications businesses and numerous other local businesses. Mr. Engeman is a former United States National Champion in rowing and represented the United States as a member of the National Team at the World Rowing Championships and World University Games. Since moving to St. Thomas in 1992, Mr. Engeman has renewed his love of sailing and won the 1998 International Rolex Regatta. Mr. Engeman is also a private pilot and has flown throughout the Caribbean.
